Finland is in ski holiday mode. Downhill provides the thrills, but the vast network of cross country ski trails allows you to enjoy more of the natural beauty and tranquility of the arctic landscape.
Moderate aurora activity. -15º. Clear skies. No wind. For some colourful relief from the monochrome winter landscape you only need to look up into the night sky
Periodic aurora activity. -10º. Partly cloudy. No wind. A monochrome world of snow is far from boring. New patterns emerge that would otherwise go unnoticed. This is of course a portrait of Mr. Twit created by the shoreline of the Ounas River in Lapland.
Good aurora activity. -6º. Snow. Light wind. The days are certainly lengthening but there still plenty of time at night to view the most spectacular auroras.
Sunrise 8:36. Sunset 16:35. Good aurora activity. -6º. Clear skies. Light wind. A recent coronal mass ejection should continue the recent good aurora activity. Meanwhile, closer to the ground, recent heavy snowfalls are a boon for the start of the ski holidays.
