The landscape changes quickly in Lapland. This is a scene from only two weeks ago and now we have half a metre of snow. You can photograph the same location one week and it completely changes the next.
Mild aurora activity. -14º Snow depth 25-50cm. Clear skies. Köngäs under the northern lights. The ambient light from the village casts cheesecake tones.
Good aurora activity. -7º. Lots of fresh snow! Clear skies. Today's religious squirrel is a Whirling Dervish.
Good aurora activity. -3º. Snow depth 10-25cm. Light wind. A squirrel enjoying Europe's cleanest air on the Orava (Squirrel) Avenue in Pallas-Yllastunturi National Park. These sculptures, created by Mats Wickström, line the path of the walking trail.
Low aurora activity. 0º. Snow. Light wind. The street lights mimic northern lights as they refract in the light crystals in the air.
Low aurora activity. -1º. Snow. Light wind. Our special guests from Australia enjoyed their first Aurora Chase.
Good aurora activity. -10º. Clouds increasing. Light wind. Clear nights mean great lights! Even with low auroras on the radar they can still glow brightly.
Good aurora activity. -12º. Partly cloudy. No wind. The freezing has begun. Some lakes are solid enough to walk on.
