We've had some strong winds up here that have blown the snow from the trees. It looks like spring but still feels like winter!
Medium aurora activity forecast. -21°. Cloudy - hoping to find some breaks in the cloud. Plenty of constellations to be found in our dark sky up here! Plus the added bonus of Northern Lights. The clear moonless sky has been great for star watching. The locations we take you on an Aurora Chase make the most of these conditions. Join us for an Aurora Chase.
Low aurora activity forecast. -22°. Some clouds. Can you spot the Big Dipper being hidden by the aurora? Juha is embracing star gazing and learning some star constellations on the job. Prepare yourselves for some more constellation action in the following months!
Low aurora activity. -20°. Cloudy. It's always fun to meet new friends on the Aurora Chase. We work with small groups of people so we too make many friends throughout the season. Just like the aurora, every Chase is slightly different because the people are different. We tailor the tour so suit everyone's needs where possible.
Moderate aurora activity. -7°. Partly cloudy. Aurora photography is as easy as abc with Arctic Frontier. Capture your best aurora pics with us on the Aurora Chase. Cameras included.
Low aurora activity forecast. 0°. Cloudy and hoping to find some breaks. Happy Valentine's Day! Wild swans on an Arctic lake on our Aurora Chase last night. These Whooping Swans are the national symbol of Finland. There are some places where they winter and then join their bigger flock when the ice melts from the rivers. It's so amazing to watch these animals survive in the freezing conditions.
Medium aurora activity. -1°. Cloudy - but we will find the gaps tonight! Busting some ghosts! The glow of our equipment matched the sky last night. You can see the glow from the 'clickers' (formerly known as a 'remote shutter release') and our head torches. Everyone was matching beautifully with the sky.
Moderate aurora activty. -12°. Clear, with clouds arriving later tonight. It's been a fantastic 2019 for Aurora Chasing, with a success rate over 90%. We've been fully booked for most of the week - making many people's dreams of seeing the Northern Lights come true! We are in peak brownie time and we've had to make more berry cordial for our Chasers and Feasters.
Good aurora activity forecast. -24°. Partly cloudy. No night is ever the same for us. The aurora is like the ocean - constantly changing and always different. There is so much beauty to be found up here. It's such a pleasure to see the changes and have a few moments to watch the sky. And it's so lovely that we can share this!
Moderate aurora activity. -14°. Partly cloudy. |
